Walk to the eastern end of Funchal’s old town (Rua de Santa Maria area). The viewpoint is located on a terrace next to the Church of Socorro and the Forte de São Tiago.

Important to Know

  • Old Town Vibes: Combine your visit with a walk through the “Painted Doors” of Rua de Santa Maria.
  • Swimming: Just below the viewpoint is the Barreirinha Bathing Complex, a popular local sea-water pool.
  • History: The nearby São Tiago Fort (yellow castle) is a 16th-century fortress that now houses a restaurant and a museum.
