At an altitude of 355 metres, the Pico dos Barcelos Viewpoint offers a world-famous 360-degree panoramic view over Funchal and the Desertas Islands. It is widely considered the best spot to appreciate the city’s vast amphitheatre and the western coastline toward Camis.

How to Get There
Drive west from Funchal center toward Santo António. The viewpoint is a large, landscaped terrace with clearly marked signs.

- Facilities: The site was renovated recently and includes a café, toilets, and several artisanal shops.
- Fireworks: This is one of the premier spots for watching the Atlantic Festival or New Year’s Eve fireworks.
- Desertas Islands: On clear days, the Desertas Islands (Nature Reserve) are perfectly visible on the horizon.
