It features a significant elevation difference of 1376 m, crossing two distinct ecosystems: the rugged Central Mountain Massif with shrubby vegetation, and the lush Laurisilva forest in the fog zone. Hikers experience unique scenery, including endemic birds like the Madeira firecrest and chaffinch. The trail is quieter than the popular PR1, offering solitude and a chance to fully immerse in nature.
