Famous for its two modern glass-floored skywalks, the Guindaste Viewpoint is one of the most spectacular spots to observe the north coast. It offers a thrilling 360-degree view of the Atlantic, the cliffs of Faial, and the iconic Penha d’Águia mountain. It is arguably the top location on the island for sunrise photography.

Access: Fully accessible by car.

Parking: Large parking lot at the entrance
Best season: All year round (Sunrise is highly recommended).
How to Get There
Take the exit to Faial from the VE1 highway. Follow signs for “Guindaste.” The road ends right at the ocean-side parking lot.

Important to Know
- Current Status: Although some older maps may mark it as closed, the viewpoint and both glass skywalks are fully open to the public.
- Skywalks: The glass platforms project over the ocean; they are solid and safe, but can be a challenge for those with severe vertigo.
- Natural Pools: Just below the viewpoint is the Foz da Ribeira do Faial complex, which includes a sea-water swimming pool.
