Briefly
Situated at the westernmost tip of Madeira, the Ponta do Pargo Lighthouse Viewpoint allows you to see the magnificence of the coastal cliffs as far as Achadas da Cruz. It is a wild, windy, and legendary location where the 300-meter cliffs drop vertically into the Atlantic.

How to Get There
Follow the ER101 to the very western end of the island. The lighthouse is well-signposted as “Farol.”

Important to Know
- The Lighthouse: Built in 1922, it sits at 312 meters above sea level. There is a small museum inside (usually open during the day).
- The Cliffs: Be extremely careful near the edges beyond the lighthouse; there are no railings in the wilder sections.
- The End of the Island: Standing here, there is nothing but ocean between you and the American continent.
