A landslide in the Silveira area of Boaventura struck a vehicle carrying six tourists on 3rd June 2026 at 8:11 pm. At least three of the passengers were seriously injured in the incident. The injured tourists are being taken to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital for treatment. Regional Road 101 has been closed to traffic following the landslide. Emergency response teams are on site, including 20 operatives from the Volunteer Firefighters of São Vicente and Porto Moniz. Elements of the PSP are also present, helping with assistance and securing the area. The incident has affected travel in the region while authorities continue their response.
