A PSP (Public Security Police) officer was seriously injured on Friday after another collapse hit the road between the João Delgado tunnel and the Pedra site, in Seixal, on the expressway between São Vicente and Porto Moniz. A landslide struck his vehicle and partially destroyed it, leaving him with severe spinal trauma. The victim was rescued at the scene by the Volunteer Firefighters of São Vicente and Porto Moniz, with support from the EMIR medical team. He was then taken to hospital, where he remains hospitalised and is said to be in a stable condition. The incident happened only last week after another collapse in roughly the same area, which has repeatedly shown signs of instability on the slope. Despite warnings from local residents, the section continues to pose dangerous driving conditions. The Mayor of Porto Moniz, Olavo Câmara, has asked the Regional Government for an alternative route for this stretch, where rock and landslides killed one couple and led to the death of a young woman.
