Enseada Beach is another favorite destination for professional surfers in Madeira. The heavy Atlantic swell and the dramatic beauty of the vertical cliffs make the experience unique. It is a wild and unmonitored pebble beach that showcases the raw power of the ocean on the southwestern coast.

Location: Praia da Enseada
Access: Pedestrian access via the village alleys and the promenade.
Time: 1–2 hours.
Difficulty: Very Easy (to reach); Extreme (for surfing).

Best season: All year round (Winter for high swells).
How to Get There
Located on the western side of Jardim do Mar village. Follow the signs for the “Passeio Marítimo” (Promenade) and walk towards the cliffs of Fajã da Ovelha.

Important to Know
- Surfing Only: Unless the sea is perfectly calm, swimming is not recommended here due to strong currents and large rocks.
- Scenery: The backdrop of the 400-meter cliffs dropping into the ocean is incredibly imposing.
- Tranquility: Since most people stay near the village center, this beach often offers more solitude.
