A small but spectacular set of natural volcanic pools located between the Lido and Praia Formosa. Doca do Cavacas offers a unique swimming experience where you are literally tucked between a high cliff and the Atlantic, with a direct view of the massive Cabo Girão in the distance.
Basic Information
Location: Doca do Cavacas
Access: Accessible via the Lido promenade or a staircase from Estrada Monumental.
Parking: Public parking at the Centromar area or Praia Formosa
Best season: All year round (Sunset here is top-tier).
How to find
Located at the far western end of the Lido promenade. You can also reach it by driving to the “Centromar” area and walking down the stairs near the “Doca do Cavacas” restaurant.

The Tunnel: A cool seaside tunnel connects these pools directly to the Praia Formosa beach.

Intimate Scale: These pools are much smaller than Porto Moniz, offering a more “cozy” and vertical feel.

Entrance: This is a paid complex (approx. €5.00) with lifeguards, sunbeds for rent, and changing facilities.
