A suspected thief was shot by a PSP agent on Thursday night after an attempted knife robbery in Machico. The incident took place at around 21:30 in the Pingo Doce supermarket car park on Rua da Estaca. The victim suffered injuries to the lower limbs caused by the firearm. Municipal Firefighters of Machico were called to assist at the scene. The assailant was later taken to the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital, where he remains. Seven elements were mobilised in response to the incident.
