The Association of Carreiros do Monte has raised the prices of its traditional wicker sled rides in Monte, with the new fares taking effect on 1 May 2026. The update applies to all services offered to visitors and replaces the previous pricing structure. A basket car with 1 (one) person now costs 30.00€, up from 27,50€. A basket car with 2 (two) people has risen to 40.00€ from 35,00€, while a basket car with 3 (three) people now costs 60.00€ instead of 52,50€. In a statement issued on 30 April 2026, the association said the increase was needed because operational costs have been rising repeatedly. It added that the price adjustment was necessary to keep the service running. No detailed explanation was given for which specific expenses had increased.
