The Ribeira das Galinhas Beach, in Paúl do Mar, is a spacious pebble beach surrounded by dramatic 400-meter cliffs. It is a favorite among surfers due to its consistent Atlantic swells and offers a very authentic, relaxed “west-coast” vibe away from the urban centers.

How to Get There
Located at the eastern entrance of the village of Paúl do Mar. Just follow the main road down the cliff and drive along the harbor front.

- Surfing: This area is famous for its long, powerful waves. It is mostly suited for experienced surfers due to the rocky bottom.
- Vibe: The beach is lined with several small bars and “Bares de Poncha,” making it a great spot for an afternoon drink.
