Neves | Viewpoint | Funchal
Briefly
Located 283 metres above sea level on the eastern edge of the city, the Neves Viewpoint (also known as Pináculo) offers one of the most majestic perspectives over Funchal bay. It is a classic “grand finale” spot to see the city lights and the entire southern coastline stretching toward Cabo Girão.

How to Get There
Drive east from Funchal on the old regional road toward Caniço. The viewpoint is located right at the curve before the descent begins, well-signposted as “Pináculo” or “Neves.”

Important to Know
- Night Photography: This is arguably the best spot to photograph Funchal at night when the city amphitheatre is illuminated.
- The Horizon: On clear days, you can see the Desertas Islands very clearly from this point.
- Classic View: This perspective is often used in postcards and tourism advertisements for Madeira.
