Madeira’s New Year’s Eve fireworks display will use 59 launch stations this year, following a resolution approved by the Regional Government. The locations were published on Tuesday in the Official Journal of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (JORAM). In Funchal, 27 launch stations will be placed in the city’s natural amphitheatre, while another 25 will run along the seafront between the Port of Funchal and the Almirante Reis area. Five more fireworks platforms will be set at sea to complete the panoramic show that has made Madeira internationally known. On Porto Santo, the fireworks will be launched from the Portela Viewpoint and the city pier. The Regional Government (PSD/CDS-PP) said the celebration is one of Madeira’s most important tourism showcases and stressed its national and international impact. The event continues to draw thousands of residents and visitors to Funchal Bay to welcome the New Year.
