The Regional Government of Madeira met today and approved several resolutions covering public contracts, infrastructure, and administrative oversight. Among them was the formal termination of the concession contract for the former EB 2,3 de São Jorge Cardeal D. Teodósio de Gouveia school in Santana. The agreement had been held by the Atalaia Living Care Association (IPSS). The government said the contract was ended because of “definitive non-compliance attributable to the concessionaire.” It also decided that the security deposit linked to the concession would be forfeited in favour of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The move marks the end of the association’s control over the abandoned school site. The decision was announced on 3rd June 2026 8:23 pm.
