The poster for the 2026 edition of the Flower Festival was presented today, revealing a longer programme designed to offer residents and visitors a wider range of activities. This year’s event will run for more than a month and will centre on the celebration of the 50th anniversary of autonomy, with several new elements added to the schedule. The main attractions will be two allegorical parades on Avenida do Mar on the 3rd and 17th of May, involving about 1,700 participants across 14 groups, seven in each parade. The festivities will begin on Thursday, the 30th of April, with the opening of the ‘Flower Market’ in the Plaça Central, which will remain open throughout the festival. The market will include 25 structures for the sale of flowers, regional products, and gastronomic delights. Another feature of the programme will be 18 floral carpets displayed in the Plaça Central, Avenida Arriaga, and Largo do Corpo Santo, available to the public during the entire event. Over 32 days, the festival will also offer 85 musical and cultural performances, several exhibitions, and the 6th edition of the Palheiro Gardens Golf Classic.
