The Carreiros do Monte have raised the prices of their traditional wicker sled rides in Monte, saying the change is needed because of higher operating costs. The new fares took effect on 1 May 2026 and apply to all services offered to visitors in Monte. A basket car with 1 (one) person now costs 30.00€, up from 27,50€. A basket car with 2 (two) people has risen to 40.00€ from 35,00€, while a basket car with 3 (three) people now costs 60.00€ instead of 52,50€. The Association of Carreiros do Monte confirmed the update in a statement issued on 30 April 2026. In that statement, the group said repeated increases in operational costs had made the price adjustment necessary to keep the service running.
