Located high above Monte at an altitude of 572 metres, the Terreiro da Luta Viewpoint offers one of the most unobstructed and majestic views over the Funchal bay. It is a site of deep historical and religious significance, home to the largest monument on the island dedicated to Our Lady of Peace.

How to Get There
Drive uphill from the Monte district towards the mountains. The viewpoint is situated on a large terrace where the monument of Nossa Senhora da Paz stands.

Important to Know
- The Monument: The 5-metre high statue was built in 1927 in fulfillment of a vow made by the local population during World War I.
- Old Train Station: You can see the ruins of the old rack railway station that once connected Funchal to this high point.
- Altitude: It is often much cooler here than in the city center; clouds frequently brush against this viewpoint.
