The Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN) has announced that the classified pedestrian route PR1 – Vereda do Pico do Areeiro will reopen to the public without access restrictions or calendar limits from the 26th of June. Until the 25th of June, the current schedule will remain in place, with the walk closed from Monday to Thursday and open only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The ICFCN also said the route will be closed temporarily from the 14th to the 17th, as well as the 21st and 22nd of September. These closures are needed for the installation of a walkway in one of the previously damaged areas. After that work is finished, the trail will return to normal operation with no further interruptions expected. The remaining repairs can be completed while the route stays open to the public. The IFCN also reminded walkers that prior registration is mandatory for access to the PR1. Reservations must be made through the Simplifica platform, and scheduling can start from tomorrow, the 1st of June.
