Located at an altitude of 1095 metres, this viewpoint offers one of the most famous and unobstructed views of the picturesque village of Curral das Freiras (Nuns’ Valley). It provides a dramatic look at the volcanic amphitheatre and the massive central peaks that surround the deep interior valley.

How to Get There
Drive from Funchal towards Curral das Freiras via the ER107. Follow the signs for “Eira do Serrado.” The viewpoint is located next to the Estalagem Eira do Serrado hotel.

Important to Know
- Altitude: At nearly 1100m, it can be significantly cooler than Funchal. Bring a light jacket.
- The Path: The walk from the parking lot to the platform is easy and safe with railings.
- Hiking: This is the starting point for the historical zig-zag descent into the village of Curral das Freiras.
- Facilities: There is a hotel, a restaurant, and a souvenir shop at the parking site.
