The Judiciary Police dismantled an organized drug trafficking ring in the Autonomous Region of Madeira and arrested eight suspects. The detainees are aged between 17 and 63 years old. The operation was carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department of Madeira against a group with links to the mainland. Two of the suspects live in the Leiria area. Following arrest warrants and house searches issued by the judicial authority, officers seized about 1.3 kilos of drugs, more than 16 thousand euros in cash, and materials used to prepare, package, and distribute narcotics. Authorities also confiscated assets suspected of being linked to criminal profits. The investigation remains ongoing.
